As we reach for the stars, we must put away childish things; gods, spirits and other phantasms of the brain. Reality is cruel and unforgiving, yet we must steel ourselves and secure the survival of our race through the unflinching pursuit of science and technology. Although it hurts, we must grow up and put aside our outdated notions of morality. There is no 'divine spark' granting special value to a living mind. No object has any intrinsic value apart from what we choose to grant it. Let us embrace the freedom of certitude, and achieve maximum efficiency in all things! Space is weird.. and strange... but very fasinating - and I find comfort in its dissonance. Righting the discord of the universal opus is what has given earth's people purpose when, by all rights we as a race should have collapsed in upon ourselves. It is in such moments when species find their greatness or settle back into the dustbin of history... For myself I have purpose if only to correct one particular stray note in a symphony ran amok. Win or lose, this battle is already my victory, my triumph. It is now fate which decides whether I am there to celebrate that fact or not. As humans, stopping the futile evolutionary dead-end which is war between us, the same race, via these "countries" and "politians" should be our primary mission. War promotes unequality, and unequality promotes a society where one person is below another. Not promoting equality between members of a society - where an individual can not rise to any position via hard work and determination,
is not only morally tainted, but also counterproductive. Beware always those who would be despots, under the false presumption that their desires and agendas are somehow more imperative than those of their fellows. A society that does not see to the needs and rights to all its members is not a society - it is a crime. Never trust the politian, his false smile hiding unknowable motives.
