Seriously though, why not just build that coffee machine to last forever?
Cars don't have to last forever, or there'd be too many outdated dangerous old cars running feral after their owners released them back into the wild. Socks definitely shouldn't last forever, or some people would never change them. Houses shouldn't last forever, or some people would never go outside. Food shouldn't last forever, or all the expiration dates would just be someone's holiday. This text paragraph shouldn't last forever, or your socks would wear out, your car would be outdated, your house would run down, all your food would expire, and your computer would run out of memory... but a coffee machine.... should last a lifetime.
