Got a lot more games...but most are from a time long before Steam and are not supported by Steam...even though Steam sells some of them...bit strange really...
Games I enjoy:
Simulators:
Space, train, farming, plane, oil-rig, truck, etc. I'm all for it. Especially when you have the freedom to do whatever you wan't and it's not just a physics demo (Demolition Simulator springs to mind).
Open Worlds:
There is an inherent risk of creating open world games, like the risk of exposing too much to the player before they are ready, or before they should know. Nevertheless there is great enjoyment I get out of open world games when carefully executed.
Build / Design:
Does this really need more explaning? Okay, so I don't enjoy physics games that happen to incorporate a building feature but are otherwise just tech-demos. They have to have more, a goal of sorts to persue. Something to do with the car you created other than just drive around in circles without any consequence, like Stormworks, or Quest For Gravity (I think it was called).
Games I don't enjoy, or Games on Steam I don't even look at (and would wish there was a filter for):
VR-only:
Since I've gotten myself an HP Windows Mixed Reality set I have become a fan, but still don't like the idea of VR-only. It feels like that has a place for the console industry, unless it's something really specific. But this surge of FPS's that have come up that are terrible as FPS try to get away with it by saying 'we're only for VR, and that takes a lot of processing power.' - Bullcrap, VR is run (almost) entirely on the GPU and requires very little extra compared to monitor based games. It's just a little bit more complicated. The only real problem I've experienced so far is more controller based; The controllers run over Bluetooth and seem to struggle carrying over all that data, but that might just be my specific hardware I'm using. Still hoping on an analogue/digital switch setting for those, since that would solve that problem (HP; hint hint).
MMO-only:
Too much to elaborate here in, but the main point is I just don't enjoy multiplayer games all that much, and in so far that I do I enjoy it in smaller groups. The problem with that is that I don't want to commit to playing at specific times, even when I don't feel like it, which is kind of where this always leads to... Well that, and I've had characters, or entire accounts even lost because of a server-migration. A character, sure, but account? With all the payment details and order history that come with it, and nobody from support willing to even look at it? Done with that crap. If I want to take such risks with my money, well read on...
Early Acces:
Not always, but the last few years most of the time, definately. There is just so much abuse somebody ('s wallet) can take. And granted, I'm the one taking the risk by investing, but if this were any other industry the industry itself would be bankrupt by these practices. So much money just tossed away...
