Well, the name is Frasier Van Kampe, Captain, 2nd Infantry, and I'm from San Francisco, California. I went to university at the University of California, across the Bay in Berkeley; I graduated Tau Theta Epsilon from its College of Commerce with a degree in Statistics and Business Research in 1941. I went to work for a brokerage firm off Montgomery Street for a spell, but I had enough foresight to know that another Great War was upon us, so I answered the nation's call and enlisted as an officer.
I was assigned to lead in the 2nd Infantry Division of the U.S. Army, the California Bears, which I thought was appropriate since Cal's team is the Golden Bears. The division was of mostly California boys (go figure), and I was lucky to be assigned to lead some of the best young men the state had to offer, guys from Cal, UC Los Angeles, all over the place. Smart bunch. We've had some rough fights in the past few months since we shipped to Europe, but we've excelled in all scenarios. I have the utmost confidence that we'll make a strong impact on this war for the better.
When all this is said and done, I intend to head back to San Francisco and maybe settle down, start a family. Hopefully I can get back my old position at the firm. Regardless, I hear Cal created a department for Business Administration and a graduate program in the past couple of years, so maybe I'll go back to school and seek a professorship, help mold the future business leaders of America. I don't know. I think I need to just focus on what's in front of me, and I don't see anything but crossfire. God grant me strength.
