I once told someone a concept on the HLDS list that they needed to develop a better system for updating HLDS/HL&HLMODS. Commented that someone should create "a real time streaming updater for clients, and servers". At the time, there were delays in releases between server updates, and client updates. Guess what that concept became?
STEAlthMode. Look at the capital letters in my name. Even kept it named the way I told him. I said, "It should be called Steam. Steam and valve, it fits". I was seeking employment with VALVe when I said that. When I submitted my concept. Reaktor is what Steam was going to be called.
I even told him how to secure their networks. To have IT to restrict attachments. Not to have sensitive information on a network that's connected to the internet ( suggested an internal disconnected network for secure development of projects ). Recommended counter intrusion ( detection ) software, hardware firewalls, and using Retina ( E eye digital security ) network vulnerability scanner to pentest / security audit ) their network. After an email compromised his companies network. One of the most important games ever developed was stolen ( take a guess ). Explained to him how to backtrace the ip, and smtp using NeoTrace Professional.
Eric Smith, Nick Shaffner, Erik Johnson, and Alfred Reynolds, they're cool.
